For Tom Steele, 74, founder of Tom Steele Tire Service Inc. (TSTS), his interest in automobiles started as a teenager when he worked for the Phelps-Dodge. He was then hired at Firestone Tire on Jefferson Boulevard where the majority of his knowledge of the tire and car care industry was founded. He eventually bought the downtown Firestone Tire store and in 1978, Steele opened his own store on the corner of Rudisill Boulevard and Clinton Street. TSTS moved to its current location on North Clinton Street in 1983 and opened a second store on Illinois Road in 2004

May 17, 2024If you need tires or any car repairs GO TO TOM STEELE!! They are honest, have great prices, and do great work. I got my tires from here in 2020 and put 92K on them before they needed replaced! Today I went back to get another set of the tires from them and asked about having an alignment done. They were honest with me in letting me know I had a loose tie rod and to do an alignment would be wasting my money until we get that fixed. I will always come here for all my car needs!

I went in for an oil change, and they were honest enough to tell me it wasn't time for me to get one. They could have easily done one and took my money, but they didn't. I will definitely go back when it is time.
